Separating from Employment

As you leave your employment at USF St. Petersburg, you may have questions you need answered.  The following resources are meant to assist you with those questions and your transition.  If you have additional concerns, please contact Human Resources.

Resignation Process:

An employee who is anticipating resigning from the University should provide, in writing, the reasons for his/her resignation to the immediate supervisor.  A two-week notification period is requested. Employees are encourage to schedule an appointment with Human Resources for an Exit Interview prior to their last day of employment.

Checklist for Employees who are separating from the University

COBRA SUBSIDY - On February 16, 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed into law. This Act reduces the COBRA premium for COBRA eligible individuals who meet specific requirements. State Group Insurance Participants (this includes employees at USFSP) who are eligible for COBRA between the dates of September 1, 2008, and December 31, 2009, will receive information about their COBRA rights and the subsidy in the mail.

Layoff:

Specific Regulations:

Layoff is the termination of employment due to the abolishment of a position or the cessation of a function. Acceptable reasons for layoff include adverse financial circumstances, reallocation of resources, shortage of work, abolishment of a job function, or reorganization of structures/programs.
