PEERS Educator

Become a PEERS Educator

PEERS is an acronym for Providing Education, Empowerment, Resources & Support to all students at USF St. Petersburg.

The purpose of PEERS is to encourage students to make responsible decisions and healthy lifestyle choices. As a Nationally Certified PEER Educator you will provide workshops and training on how to make healthy and safe decisions around alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. Additional workshops include educational information regarding sexual health, sexual violence, nutrition and other health topics relevant to college students.

Each PEER Educator will be provided with 12-hours (in total) of foundation training developed by the BACCHUS Network. Any student who successfully complete the Certified Peer Educator (CPE) Training Program will receive a membership card for the BACCHUS Network and resume attachment stating that they have been trained in skills that make them a better leader, role model, activist and friend.

There are 9 training modules:

1. Understanding the Power of PEER Education
6. Developing Inclusive Peer Education Efforts
2. Strategies for Change
7. Programming & Presentation Skills
3. Listening Skills
8. Taking Care of Yourself
4. Responding & Referral Skills
9. Group Development and Success
