Thomas W. Smith,

Associate Professor of Government and International Affairs at USF - St. Petersburg where he teaches courses in international relations and political theory. Smith holds a B.A. in Anthropology from the College of William and Mary (1984) and a Ph.D. in Government and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia (1997). He is the author of History and International Relations (Routledge, 1999) and articles in International Studies Quarterly,Human Rights Quarterly, International Politics, International Journal of Human Rights, History of Political Thought, Ethics & International Affairs, and PS: Politics and Political Science. Before coming to USF, Smith taught for three years at Koç University in Istanbul. During the summer of 1999 he was a visiting scholar at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University.
