CecilFrank Biafora
Professor of Criminology

Frank Biafora received his Masters in Sociology from the University of Florida and earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Miami, Florida in 1991.  His general research interests span a range of issues and concerns that impact on the adolescent development experience, including substance use, school tracking, race/ethnic tensions and immigration.  Frank is a recent recipient of a Fulbright Senior Scholars Award in Vietnam where he conducted survey research on the impact of rapid modernization on the youth of Hanoi, Vietnam.  A recent addition to the administration of USFSP, Dr. Biafora comes to SW Florida after serving 15 years as a member of the faculty of Sociology and Criminology at St. John’s University, New York City.
