Minor in French and Francophone Studies
The French and Francophone Studies program offers courses in French language, French and Francophone cultures. All classes are conducted in French (see list of courses under requirements). The program offers a Minor in French and Francophone Studies.
The French language is spoken by 169 million people in the world today from France, Belgium, Switzerland, to Canada, Martinique, Haiti, Tahiti, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Vietnam, etc. There is also a thriving French and Francophone community right here in Florida and the Tampa Bay Area. The program promotes French cultural events in the university (French Club) or in the Bay Area (see news and events).
The program encourages the students to study abroad for a summer or a semester in France or a Francophone country. For information regarding study abroad opportunities, contact the office of International Affairs. Our students in the French Club are also happy to share their experiences studying abroad. Other scholarships exist for American students to live and work in France (see: http://frenchculture.org/a_assistantship-program_195.cfm and http://frenchculture.org/a_grants-and-scholarships-to-go-to-france_394.cfm).
