Led by world renowned researchers, Dr. Christopher D'Elia and Dr. James Gore, the Center for Science and Policy Applications for Coastal Environment (C-SPACE) was created in 2005. The objective of the C-SPACE is for the study, protection and amelioration of the coastal environment. To understand the impacts of urbanization, the purpose of the Center is to examine:

  • the use, supply, and quality of freshwater;
  • the fate, effects, assessment and remediation of water-borne pollutants;
  • water quality and quantity driven changes in inland and coastal ecosystems; and
  • management and policy of coastal freshwater and marine ecosystems.

Below is a list of projects to be studied by researchers from interdisciplinary areas in the C-SPACE in 2005.
