Summer Grant Writing Series

This workshop series guides participants through the entire pre-and post-award process. Training includes searching for funding, proposal development, peer review, and the responsibilities of the PI (principal investigator). The series focuses upon 3 major federal agencies: the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the National Institute of Health (NIH).At the end of the series, participants will have a finished product that is ready to submit to the funding agency for consideration.

The Summer Grant Writing workshops are designed to teach the university researcher following:

  • How to find funding in your research area
  • How to write a competitive grant proposal
  • The peer review process
  • Responding to the reviewers comments (pink sheets)
  • Congratulation! You got the money, now what? Pi responsibilities

Funding 101: How COS Can Work for You - Funding 101: is a training workshop designed to introduce you to the funding database Community of Science (COS). The COS database contains approximately 400,000 funding opportunities and you will be provided with the valuable tools you need to navigate the database and find funding opportunities that are in line with your research interests.

Keeping A High Profile: COS Expertise Networking - COS Expertise training is a workshop designed to introduce you to the COS Expertise Database. Expertise contains approximately 450,000 self-edited profiles of researchers, scholars, and experts that can work as a valuable tool.

Grants.gov Workshop - Grants.gov is the single access point for over 1,000 grant programs offered by all Federal grant making agencies. This workshop serves as an introduction to Grants.gov.

 

New ......PI Awareness Training modules have been designed to be used as online training and as a resource reference center

      •  The first 5 modules have a short quiz at the end to reinforce key points and validate the trainings.  The quiz results are sent to a database, and then each person’s training summary is updated in GEMS to show completion of the module.  No self-service registration, NO VPN, no special password is required.
      • Modules:

NEW……. On-Line Pert Certification Pert Certifier training is designed for use as an online training module and as a resource reference center. This certification is designed for all faculty, A&P, and USPS employees who are paid from federal funds or provide cost sharing to a project supervisors, PIS or CO-PIs of OPS employees paid from federal funds; and Department Representatives responsible for coordinating PERT reports.
PERT Certifier training is accessed online, no enrollment is required. Users just click the Send Email button at the end of the module and their training summaries will be updated in GEMS. We encourage you to take a moment to review this new training.
